Designating Thursday, February 7, 2002 as "Social Work Day," in
recognition of professional social workers and their
commitment and dedication to individuals, families and
communities.

Whereas, Social workers help millions of people address social
and psychological problems to improve their lives; and

Whereas, Social workers bridge the gap between resources and
services and the people who need them; and

Whereas, Social workers use their education, training, and
commitment to strengthen individuals, families, and communities;
and

Whereas, Social workers shape numerous programs and policies
that improve community life; and

Whereas, Social workers provide services in many settings,
including private practices, family counseling centers, courts,
nursing homes, hospices, mental health clinics, child welfare agencies, hospitals, schools and institutions of higher learning,
state correctional facilities, corporations, as well as public and
private agencies; therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Delegates of West Virginia:

That the House of Delegates hereby recognizes social workers
as professionals in their commitment and dedication to individuals,
families, and communities; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the House of Delegates hereby
designates Thursday, February 7, 2002, as "Social Work Day"; and,
be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates is
hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the West
Virginia Chapter of National Association of Social Workers.
